About Our School

Our mission: Education, Anchored  in Faith

Our mission is to prepare your child for life by providing an education anchored in faith.  Our Catholic Montessori program is designed to enable each child to develop to their full potential as God created them. All children are naturally curious and love to learn. We support this innate drive by providing environments that meet your child's developmental needs with a well-prepared supportive staff, and a community of dedicated families. We inspire children to develop independence, problem-solving skills, confidence, self-discipline, and  a love of learning within a foundation of faith. We celebrate your child's individuality and help them discover how they can best develop and use their God given gifts to contribute to our world and our society.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a catholic curriculum centered on scripture, sacred tradition, sacraments, and liturgy. The classroom, called an atrium, is a prepared environment with hands on materials related to Catholic teaching. The children are given lessons as well as unstructured time to allow the Holy Spirit to direct their will in ways which foster prayer and contemplation. This method of instruction has worldwide catholic appeal. It has been used for over 70 years in 40 countries on 5 continents. Mother Theresa’s Missionary of Charity Sisters use this in their own formation and in their catechetical work with children.

Daily Mass

Children in our Primary Classes attend Daily Mass once per week. Lower Elementary students attend Daily Mass every day, and older students have taken it upon themselves to be trained servers for daily Mass.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the centrality of our school day and faith.

Prayer

We foster the innate desire of the child to know and to love God by creating an environment in which their spiritual lives flourish. Every day starts and ends with communal prayer. Every classroom has a space for spontaneous individual prayer. The children frequent this quiet space every day.

Tradition

We are blessed by the 2000 year rich and beautiful tradition of our Catholic Faith. The traditions of our faith are fully integrated into the daily life at St. Philomena Montessori. We seize every opportunity to practice the traditions of our Catholic Faith. This includes:

  • Stations of the Cross
  • The Holy Rosary
  • Eucharistic Adoration
  • Liturgy of the Hours
  • Liturgical Season Liturgies and Celebrations for Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Last Supper, Easter, and Pentecost
  • Daily & Monthly Saint

The three central figures in our school.

We entrust our entire school community and program to these three patrons.
